Please join us as Tent Leaders or Volunteers who are committed in bringing a consciousness of listening and compassion to Homeless Veterans Stand Down.
Both of these AMAZING events will help over 600 homeless vets in the Bay Area. The men and women are brought to Local Fairgrounds for 3-4 days, given new clothes, haircuts, fed great food and provided with all kinds of donated services; including spiritual, legal, medical, dental, mental heath, recovery, housing and peer support - all with dignity and respect - thanking homeless veterans for their service to our country. 26% of those on the streets are Homeless Veterans needing to find their way Home. Join us our motto is SIT STAY HEAL BE-CAUSE for ending homelessness.
Please consider Volunteering. Please contact Community Outreach with any questions. Upcoming events/meetings...
We will have the East Bay Stand Down services provider coordination crew on site to go over services that will be available to the veterans during the event. In addition we will have a representative from the Vet center in Oakland to go over the services they provide as well as the services the VA will and will not provide to a veteran. We will also be discussing what duties and functions a Tent Leader performs at a Stand Down event and what skills and attitudes need to be present to be able to sit with our Homeless veterans and help them out during this 3-4 day event.

Sit Stay Heal BE Cause Our Veterans Deserve It For those of you who have attended a Stand Down WELCOME BACK and thank you for your tremendous service. You brought order, heart, and soul to the encampments over the past 5 years. The monthly Stand Down Tent Leader Core meeting are every 3rd Monday from 7-9 pm at Oakland Center for Spiritual Living, in the Education Bldg., second floor, Rm #5 (Teen room). STAND DOWN MEDIA PRESENTATIONS... Here are some YouTube videos of past and future tent Leaders we have mentored and worked with (Rocky, Jack and Orlando). These guys started with us 4-5 years back and have helped out at many Stand Down events. They were on the streets and had many life complications that are and have been cleared up through our mentoring and their tenacity.
