welcome

Rev. Joan SteadmanWelcome to Oakland Center for Spiritual Living.  Even as you read this message, please know that we are wrapping our spiritual arms around you in heartfelt embrace.

We are a dynamic, inclusive spiritual community.  Because we believe in the fundamental unity of all life, we celebrate diversity of every nature.  Our vision is global, and we are dedicated to living that global vision in our local community.  Therefore, there are many ways we serve our congregants, friends and surrounding communities, including the following ministries: Ministry of Prayer, Youth and Family, Pastoral Care, Music, Education, Membership, Wedding, Loving Service, Community Outreach and Programs.

The teachings of Science of Mind and Spirit, which we espouse, are universal in scope and mystical in nature.  Our founder, Dr. Ernest Holmes, was a lover of spirituality, philosophy and science and had the breadth of vision to perceive that the three disciplines are interconnected.  As he immersed himself in all three, he developed a spiritual philosophy and way of life, which honors all spiritual traditions and teaches universal truth principles.  At OCSL, we teach practical ways of living these principles, which, when practiced faithfully, result in a life of freedom, harmony and love.

The American humorist, Will Rogers, said that strangers are simply friends we have not met yet. Whether you are here for a reason, a season or a lifetime, we extend the hand of friendship to you.  We are here to witness your Divine Essence and support you on your spiritual journey.

Peace and blessings,
Rev. Joan Steadman
